Luckin Coffee has entered HK May set up shop in Yau Tsim Mong and Central

Recently mainland social media “Little Red Book” has circulating news that the coffee chain brand Luckin Coffee, known as the “Starbucks of China” is recruiting in Hong Kong. The recruitment advertisement shows that the brand is recruiting full-time and part-time employees in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central areas, including store managers. There are various positions such as deputy store manager and barista, with monthly salaries ranging from HKD 16,000 to HKD 30,000 and part-time hourly wages are HKD 65. Full-time employees can also enjoy benefits including meal and transportation subsidies, performance bonuses, employee drinks and referral bonuses. The internet speculated that Luckin may soon open a new store in Hong Kong.
Luckin Coffee was founded in 2017 by China Auto Renting Inc. founder Charles Lu and COO Jenny Qian. It is headquartered in Xiamen and is one of China’s largest coffee chain brands. According to the fourth quarter and full-year financial report of 2023, Luckin’s sales in the Chinese market reached 24.86 billion yuan, approximately 3.45 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 87.3%, surpassing Starbucks’ 3.16 billion U.S. dollars, becoming a giant in the Chinese coffee market. By the end of 2023, Luckin had added a net 8,034 stores throughout the year, with an annual growth rate of 97.8%. The total number of stores in mainland China reached 16,218, of which the number of self-operated stores exceeded 10,000 for the first time, reaching 15,980, and the number of franchise stores was 5,620.
