Hong Kong and Macau Michelin Guide 2024 Bib Gourmand Selection   Man Yuen Restaurant Selected

Recently 《 Hong Kong and Macau Michelin Guide 2024》announced Bib Gourmand recommended list, a total of 77 restaurants from Hong Kong and Macao were selected, there are 67 from Hong Kong and 10 from Macau.  Among the 10 restaurants selected this time, there are 7 stores in Hong Kong and 3 stores in Macau, including Man Yuen restaurant that recently attracted widespread attention for refusing to be filmed by YouTuber dim_cook_guide. 

 These Bib Gourmand restaurants all have one thing in common, that is their cooking methods are relatively simple, easy to identify, and can be enjoyed easily.  Not only are the prices reasonable, but you can also eat very rich food in these restaurants, it will definitely bring you complete satisfaction. 

 7 new Hong Kong restaurants selected for Bib Gourmand List 

 Ăn Chơi 

  • Run by a husband and wife duo, the bright yellow walls, colorful plastic chairs, bamboo hats, etc. all have a Vietnamese style. The menu is mainly based on local snacks, including French bread, Vietnamese noodles that change regional styles every day, Jiang Gong Lu Wang grilled fish, etc. 

 Cheung Hing Kee (Tsim Sha Tsui) 

  • The must-try Shanghai pan-fried buns are available in signature, shrimp, spicy, crab powder and other flavors. The skin is thin and full of fillings. The bottom of the bun is fried to a crispy texture, and the soup overflows when you bite into it. There are no seats, but there are small tables outside the store for guests to stand and enjoy. 

 Little Napoli 

  • The boss is from Naples Italy and all the ingredients are imported from his hometown. The pizzas are made to order and are made into 13-inch sizes in accordance with local tradition and baked in a stone kiln imported from Italy at a high temperature of 400 degrees. Margherita and slightly spicy Vesuviana flavors are the most popular. It also offers fried Italian pies, baked Italian sandwiches and other delicacies. Only a few dine-in seats are available. 

 Man Yuen Restaurant 

  • Located in a hidden estate shopping mall, it specializes in traditional Cantonese cuisine. In addition to roasted meats, dim sum, and seafood, it also offers seasonal dishes such as snake soup and clay pot rice. The signature dish Golden Stir-fried King uses extra large dried shrimps, cherry blossom shrimps, shrimp balls, etc. It is recommended to reserve the barbecue meat in advance. 

 Sang Kee 

  • Founded in 1976, it has been serving traditional Cantonese cuisine. It moved to a new location in early 2024. The presentation is not fancy and it does not use luxurious ingredients as a selling point, but it shows solid cooking skills. Some dishes such as the signature ancient salt-baked chicken, pork belly soaked in soup with wolfberry and hometown baked fish intestines are available in limited quantities every day. 

 Sang Kee Foods (Sai Wan) 

  • Opened in 1998, it uses grain-fed lion-head geese from Chaozhou, and the aged brine is added with more than a dozen spices. The shop puts the palms, wings, liver, intestines, kidneys and other parts into it every day and slowly immerses it in the flavor. Among them, the signature goose meat is firm and full of meat flavor. 

 Twins Liangpi Limited (Mong Kok) 

  • After moving to Mong Kok at the end of 2023, it was once again selected into the Bib Gourmand list this year. The restaurant has added dine-in seats and continues to offer a variety of Sichuan snacks, including signature Liangpi, crispy and spicy lotus root diced, etc.
