Central high-end restaurant and bar SEVVA Close down in May

The post-pandemic immigration wave, together with Hong Kong people spending up north in recent years and changes in tourists spending patterns, have led to a wave of closure of local shops, it is unavoidable including some casual dining restaurants and some mid to high end restaurants. Opened in 2008, SEVVA is an iconic restaurant and rooftop bar in Prince’s Building, Central. The lease will expire in May this year, bringing an end to its 16-year history.
The restaurant was founded by Bonnae Gokson, a descendant of the Wing On Department Store family, serving countless famous people and celebrities throughout the years, including former U.S. President Clinton, singer Jennifer Lopez, Beckham couple, it is also a gathering place for local financial people. SEVVA held a grand farewell party in January this year, looking back on past achievements, thanking employees and loyal customers for their support. Rent, labor and food costs are high, garbage fees (MSW charging) will be implemented, making the local business environment even more difficult.
