Hong Kong’s catering industry is moving towards a green future. The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of HK (CMA) and the HK Federation of Restaurants & Related Trades (HKFORT) signed a memorandum to jointly promote the development of “environmental, social and corporate governance” (ESG). They will enhance the industry’s understanding and practice of ESG through technical consultation, training and lectures in the future, and launching the “ESG Charter” certificate to encourage enterprises to participate in greener transformation. Since 2022, nearly a thousand companies have responded to the “ESG Charter” action, committing to a low-carbon transition. The CMA is also committed to assisting the industry in adapting to environmental regulations to maintain its competitiveness. This step will not only help improve the sustainability of HK’s catering industry, but also contribute to the city’s environmental protection.
