Golden Chopsticks Creative Dishes Competition Selects Chef God to encourage sharing of creativity
For the first time, Hong Kong’s catering industry jointly organized the “Golden Chopsticks Open Fire Creative Dish Awards”, aiming to solve the current problem of chef shortage and lack of innovation in the catering industry. Cheung Yu Yan, president of the Hong Kong Catering Industry Association, said he hoped to stimulate innovative thinking in the industry through the competition. The competition requires entries to be Chinese food, covering four categories: meat, poultry, seafood, and vegetarian food. There will be one gold, silver, bronze and excellence award for each category.
Registration for the competition is open from now until October 31, 2024, and the finals and awards ceremony are scheduled for December 12. The preliminary competition requires the submission of written materials, including production details and photos of creative dishes. The judges will select the ten groups of contestants with the highest scores to enter the finals. Each group has a maximum of two people. They need to bring their own ingredients, cook and introduce their works within a limited time at the finals site.
Entrants must be local catering companies in Hong Kong, including hotels and club restaurants. Individual entries are not accepted. Cheung Yu Yan emphasized that dish innovation requires teamwork, including joint conception by the restaurant manager and chef. Participants must agree to share recipes and ingredient information after the competition to promote the common progress of the catering industry.
