On September 26, 2024, the giant pandas An An and Ke Ke, gifted to Hong Kong by the central government, arrived in Hong Kong and needed to undergo a month of quarantine and adapt to the new environment in Ocean Park.\u00a0 Ocean Park Chairman Mr. Paulo Pong plans to turn the pair of giant pandas into Hong Kong’s tourism ambassadors and design a series of creative products around them, including retail, catering and digital products to increase the park’s revenue.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Paulo Pong said that these products will incorporate Hong Kong elements and be different from the existing giant panda products in Chengdu.\u00a0 The giant panda is expected to meet the public as soon as the end of the year.\u00a0 The catering industry has begun to promote the “giant panda economy” and plans to launch giant panda-shaped meals in tourist area restaurants to attract tourists and increase sales.\u00a0 Cheung Ming Wai, director of business development and brand operations of LUBUDS Group believes that these meals with check-in elements, combined with the long holidays in the Mainland, will drive sales growth.\u00a0 Some shopping mall managers hope that giant pandas can attract more tourists to spend money in HK, and encourage their merchants to launch various giant panda products.<\/span><\/p>\n
